Admire Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring

Discover the best 17th-century Dutch paintings at the Mauritshuis. Admire masterpieces such as Carel Fabritius Het Puttertje and Rembrandt’s The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, in intimate galleries.

From Monday 24 August through Sunday 20 September, the Mauritshuis will be closed to the public due to maintenance work.

From Saturday 15 August through Sunday 4 October, Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer will not be on display in the museum.

The Mauritshuis displays the world’s best Dutch and Flemish Old Masters from the times of Rembrandt and Vermeer. The intimate galleries showcase over 200 masterpieces. For example, Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring and Rembrandt’s The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. The masterpieces are backed up by a multimedia tour.

The delightful environment of this charming 17th-century museum includes damask wallpapers, glittering chandeliers and monumental ceiling paintings. The well-lit underground foyer houses a brasserie and the museum shop. The Art Deco-style wing hosts temporary exhibitions and an artists’ studio.
